A long hiatus

It’s been a while since I’ve posting something on my blog; in fact, this space has been dormant for just over a year. I’ve been busy with a different adventure, creating a makerspace. If you haven’t heard of It Begins in Brockport (IBiB), then take a look at what we have to offer, or better yet, stop by for a tour.

But I might find some new visitors coming here due to some new news. I’m running for an open position on the village board of trustees. I think this is a good time to give local politics a shot, while I have energy, ideas, and a desire to help my community. So for the next little bit, I may have some non-tech, non-blinky light posts so that new visitors can get to know me a bit. It might also get me back into blogging and start sharing my projects here again.

In any case, here’s my official “I’m running” announcement. It even came with a pic of me in the snow (it’s very much winter here in Brockport).

In July 2017, my wife and I moved into a rental on South Street. The moving truck hadn’t arrived, and we were sitting on the barren porch listening to some excitement happening down the block. It was the Old Fashioned 4th of July at Morgan Manning House and our first introduction to this truly beautiful and amazing community.

Fast forward to 2025, and I’ve learned how right our move to Brockport was. The village has some wonderful shops, exciting seasonal events, and beautiful amenities like the canal that can and should draw visitors from across the country. I want to do my part to help our village shine like the Jewel of the Erie Canal that it is, and that’s why I’m running for a position on the Village Board of Trustees.

I believe a thriving community needs volunteers and leaders committed to providing affordable places to live, fun things to do, and safe places to shop. My priorities will be to strengthen areas where we excel and support ways to grow and diversify our options for shopping, living, and recreation.

We are all feeling the “bridge under construction” fatigue in this village, and soon, the Main Street Lift Bridge will be back in operation. With it, will come the important task of ensuring our local businesses have the tools needed to grow. I want to help ensure their success.

But I also want to hear from you. I look forward to your ideas on what makes Brockport great and what we can do to make it even better. Join me, along with my Brockport Proud colleagues Annie Crane and Brittany Profit-Rheinwald, and together we can make a world of difference in our wonderful village.
